Job Description


Description   The Dispatcher is responsible for driver, load, and team assignments and other service delivery projects for crews supporting Commercial Services office relocations and industrial move service assignments.  This position will report to the Director of Operations and assumes a secondary leadership role for daily service activities.    
  • Foster a team oriented work environment.
  • Communicate directly with the customers as appropriate and is responsive to any needs and  concerns identified.
  • Maintains contact with on-site supervisors as necessary to ensure and efficient and effective service experience for the client.
  • Complete required reports and paperwork for each completed job.
  • Coordinate a variety of warehouse activities through the Warehouse Manager and assigned operations teams.
  • Works directly with the Safety & Compliance department to ensure compliance, adherence to regulations, permit requirements, licensing and driver qualification.
  • Coordinate truck and fleet services through the Maintenance department.
  • Manage costs relative to service, materials and supplies.
  • Coordinate 3rd party services through an approved vendor network in cooperation with the Customer Service team.
  • Work with accounting to supply details for invoicing/billing of services to the client.
  • Maintain crew clearance and credentialing records.
  • Reviews daily operations requirements and plans crews and resources accordingly.
  • Sets expectations and monitors accountability for best-in-class service.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Director to monitor the proficiency of the crews and recommends process improvements and training solutions to enhance the service to the client.
  • Daily communication and interaction with Project Supervisors, local drivers, and modular installation teams.
  • Assigns jobs during multiple shifts, dependent upon service delivery criteria and statement of work (SOW).
  • Maintain positive relationships with drivers, customers, sales coordinators, and sales staff.
  • Responsible for influencing positive employee morale and quality customer service.
  • Addresses driver concerns or disciplinary issues as they arise and reports incidents to management and HR as needed.
  • Manages driver’s use of PeopleNet and GPS systems for eLogs and trip management.
  • Utilize tools to manage all aspects of customer deliveries, backhauls, returns, special transportation requests, and modification to service schedules.
  • Ensure all jobs are properly coded for billing accuracy.
  • Manage overtime as appropriate.
  • Ensure all crews are dispatched in a timely manner in compliance with the dispatch schedule.
  • Assess jobs to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective mode of delivery and service is used.
  • Work with management and drivers to follow company Safety Program and Policies to measure and reduce the occurrence and cost of collisions, injuries, near-misses, and equipment damage.
  • Conduct interviews for full and part time staff to support operations.
 
 Requirements
  • Three (3) years of experience working for a commercial (office) moving company.
  • Dispatcher or logistics management based working experience.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer and systems experience.
  • Customer service focus.
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a desire to take on new responsibilities.
